Kerslake Robshaw Foundation
Engage were delighted to raise money for the Kerslake Robshaw Foundation at a series of events in February and March 2024.
Founded by couple Chris Robshaw, former England rugby captain, and Camilla Kerslake, BRIT nominated opera singer, the Kerslake Robshaw Foundation envisions a society where every young person discovers life-enriching experiences through music and sport. Their mission is twofold: to harness the healing power of music and sport as tools for recovery among young people impacted by grief, abuse, and violence, and to provide equal access for all young people, regardless of background, ensuring that access to music and sport is not confined by circumstance.
Chris has been a friend of Engage for many years, championing our ICON spirit and his work alongside wife Camilla for the foundation highlights that.
On the partnership, Chris said “The Kerslake Robshaw Foundation are extremely excited to be working with Engage, it will be a great opportunity for us to grow and give more young people a sporting or music opportunity. Engage and I have supported each other over the last few years and now brilliantly they are taking the relationship one step further to support us. We are extremely grateful.”
We are delighted that we helped to raise £29,152 from a range of events in February and March. This donation has helped a range of organisations, including I Choose Freedom, London Youth Choirs, Buttle UK, Brixton Chamber Orchestra and Intergenerational Music Making.
Challenging MND
In April 2024, Engage announced their partnership with Challenging MND.
During this partnership, all proceeds from the auctions at ICON events will be going towards the great cause and we will also be getting involved in some of the challenges and events that Challenging MND are organising.
Inspired by Alex Gibson who was diagnosed in 2018, Challenging MND was set up with the mission to provide financial support and assistance to those living with motor neurone disease, to complete any lasting memorable challenges or experiences. MND is a debilitating progressive disease which involves degeneration of the motor neurones and wasting of muscles.
Challenging MND work tirelessly to create lasting memories for those living with MND and their families. They achieve this by offering bespoke challenges or activities of their choosing, fostering a sense of empowerment and joy.
bigmoose
Our September 2024 Golf Day provided us the opportunity to help out with another great cause, bigmoose charity. “bigmoose is on a mission to provide fast and effective mental health support to people who are struggling. Our mission is clear and concise with 3 main goals:
- help people with their mental health
- prevent suicides
- reduce homelessness
The number of individuals struggling with mental health issues is rising, with many facing daily struggles. Unfortunately, these individuals are often turned away from mental health services for ‘not meeting criteria.’ Our approach to supporting people with their mental health is different. In the UK, people have had to get used to waiting lists that can last for months or even years. However, at bigmoose people are responded to within 24 hours. Every single person is treated as an individual and referred to a therapist best suited to them. that therapist will then see the client within one week.”
ICON Golf day
Each year we host two ICON Golf Day’s at the Grove in what is always a truly memorable event and one of our favourites on the calendar.
Not only is it a great day but also a brilliant way for us to do our bit for charity. Players are offered the chance to pay for extra hole-in-one prize attempts as well as mulligans, with all proceeds made going to our chosen charity.
In May 2023, this helped us raise £3,275 for Brain Tumour Research.
Brain Tumour Research is campaigning to increase the national investment in brain tumour research to £35 million per year, while fundraising to create a network of seven sustainable Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK.
In May 2024, this helped us raise £4,767 for Challenging MND.
